Bulimia Nervosa is a medical term to categorise a type of eating disorder. It is commonly known as Bulimia. It is difficult at times to identify a Bulimic sufferer as they are usually of normal weight. This eating disorder can remain secret much more than other eating disorders, which unfortunately allows it to develop to sometimes serious levels.

The characteristics of a bulimic is eating (sometimes in binges) followed by purging (vomiting). Sufferers of this disorder feel an ‘out of control experience’ leading to anxiety and depression. Some individuals can purge many times a day leaving them in a binge and vomiting cycle. The fear of putting on weight is at its core. Shame, guilt and secrecy can keep this cycle going and the sufferer begins to realise they are unable to break this cycle and need professional help. This help comes by talking to a professional trained in the area and learning again to develop a healthy relationship with food without the fear of putting on weight.
